We talk about grief, marriage, parenting, hope, faith, overcoming trials and tribulations, gratitude joy and so much more. Started as just a dream, I always wanted to be involved with music. Like many of you on here, I was raised with a radio playing constantly whether it was at home, on my walk-man going to school or listening to my Queen's Greatest Hits CD over and over again when I was on my way to bootcamp (before I had to surrender my CD Walkman during processing at Great Lakes, IL). Music is the core of who I am. After leaving for the Navy at 17, I met so many talented servicemembers that would play their guitars, keyboards, & other instruments while I played the radio. It was our only solace while winding down after a long day or enjoying a day off by the barracks on deployment. During my time in the Navy, I became a wife and mother. After the military, I became a nurse. We as humans have multiple talents and many of our gifts, we have yet to discover. I love being a wife and mother, it is my number one purpose on this earth, but as an individual, I wanted to do something that brings me joy- and that’s discovering the music that keeps us moving. Music is art, therapy and healing. It‘s that drive home after a long day that helps you decompress. It’s that one song that gives you the extra push to finish the race at top speed. Music is that one form of vibrational energy that holds a detailed memory from decades ago, that you can go right back to at any moment.
It was not until I started working on my self-care and spirituality, that I realized I have to be proud of my love music and look for the people looking for me. As a licensed practical nurse, I worked as a trained Whole Health Coach, Mind-Body Medicine facilitator and Healing Touch Practitioner at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Tampa, Fl. I learned to advocate for myself and teach other veterans how to do the same. The nonstop journey of mindfully showing up for myself first, pray hard over my life, and give it all to Jesus to show up for the people I love, is a daily task that we may not always be motivated to do. Music is part of my toolbox that helps me be present. I want a life of joy and when times get hard, be there 100% to feel it and heal it. My father was my biggest inspiration when it comes to music and marching to my own beat, I know he and God led me to this exact space where I am right now, and this is where I belong.
